Round 9 Match Reports
Congratulations to our 2 50 gamers today:
Jayde Gardiner, 50 games, A grade
Dylan Hanlin 50 club games
We are very proud of both of you.
With a mounting injury list coming into the game against Tallangatta it meant opportunities for guys to get a taste of senior football. Ethan Barry, Jesse Barker and Tyson McInnes all made their senior debut and didn't look out of place at any point during the game.
The boy's battled hard all day as the work of Gilly, Woody, Ando, Marshy and first gamer Tyson stood out all day. Unfortunate to lose Blayke at half time as he was putting together a great half. Horner was marking everything that came his way as he made it look like a dry day and Keene battled extremely hard going up against two quality opposition ruckman throughout the day.
Goals: E. Barry, M. Horner, L. Hawkins.
Best: Z. Pleming, N. Wood, C. Gilcrist, J. Anderson-Clarke, L. Marshall, T. Mcinnes.
This week for the first time in a while we showed we can play some really good footy against a powerhouse Tallangatta.
From the first bounce our pressure around the ground was brilliant.
Nozz and Coops dominated all day and were unstoppable, many times having 2 or 3 blokes hanging off them.
Benny and Eli held their wings while Jake was an absolute workhorse with Walsh the tackling machine.
Frenchy played his last for the club and showed the boys if you do the work on the track it shows on the field and slotted through a great goal.
After half time we came out only 2 goals down but couldn't sustain the pressure and run we had early. This was a direct reflection of our lack of numbers on the track through the week.
The signs of a great side a very clear and we never quit, just ran out of puff.
Let’s all get on the track this week and build some momentum towards the back end of the year.
Goals: J. Campbell 2, T. Hynes, E. Salthouse, Z. French, G. Cadman
Best: C. Cooper, Z. French, J. Campbell, A. Walsh, B. Walton A Nowak
A cold morning at Tallangatta didn't deter the midgets from another great game! This week some of the girls had the chance to try new positions and learn those areas of the court. Ava was super versatile this week going from shooting to goal defence. Peyton had a fantastic defensive game with strong hands rebounding in GK and enjoying a change out in WD. Hannah added some speed to our midcourt with a run in WA and Isla had a great attacking game having a run in WA also. Well done to all the girls for taking on the challenge of new positions. AWARDS: The opposition underestimated our little pocket rocket when she came on in Wing Defence and Amity showed them why we call her pocket rocket! Great defensive hands over each pass, sticking with her player and strong passes to take home an award. Emma continues to improve every week with her movement in the Goal Circle and coming forward to the ball. She is always a positive voice on court and had a accurate day in goals rarely missing any to take home our 2nd award.

The girls were geared up for a fight against Tallangatta, and they’ve been working on quite a few things at training. Their work continues to pay off, with another solid win of 44:12. The girls in the shooting end continue to show up - accuracy percentages are continuing to impress with Piper at 100% this week and Tahnee with 85%. Zoe and Emily continue to be great back up support. Defensive end showed great drive with some impressive intercepts by Lily, Molly and Charlee. Mid court allowed a solid through put of the ball up to our goals. Best on court was Tahnee for one of the best games we’ve seen her play so far (Effies takeaway). Second was Dakota O’Brien who shows great development and really listens to direction (Rock N Roll Roasts).

The girls had a tough outing and we knew that was going to be the case, going down by 33.The girls got off to a slow start which allowed Tallangatta to get a very good jump on us early. Lily Peake played out of position in the first qrt but done well putting good ball into the howlers also showing she can win ball defensively. Savannah Scholes improved as the game went on, finding her hot hand, and getting good ball by Jada and Mia. It was said on the bench, that Lily Barry has become quite the impact player for us. In the 2nd Lily went into GK and made an impact straight away. Deflections, rebounds intercepts. She kept her shooters very busy and came away with our BOC. Lily Peake was our other award winner.

Another week down and another win for the girls. Tallangatta came out strong and I feel they are shaping up to be a good side. The first half of the game saw the score fairly close but with a shooting accuracy of 92% from Ebony Vardy, 88% from Sophie Jefferson and 83% from our up and coming shooter Charlotte Lee mixed with amazing defence from Chloe Carkeek, Emily Morey and Charlotte Harris saw the score blow out after half time. Mid court defence and attacking was strong and consistent from Aj, Beth and Claire. Overall a great solid team effort. Best on Chloe after coming back injury and hands and tips on most balls, with second best going to Sophie with again another amazing game and consistent effort in goals and attacking.
What can I say? As a team we didn't turn up today and Tallangatta punished us for it. With most recent lockdown and illnesses aside, we just did not play like we did in the first half of the season. We still have our eyes set on finals and we know we are capable of getting there. Time to re-group, re-set some goals and move forward to our game against Yackandandah next week. Best on went to Sarah, who I've been so impressed on how she has stepped up in defence and creates so many turnovers. Second award went to Bec who gives it her all every week and constantly encourages her team.
We had a new line up and some changes on the court today . The girls fought hard the entire game and the scoreboard did not reflect the effort and determination saints played with. Our defensive end worked hard all game creating turnovers and making our opposition have to work hard for each goal. Our mid court and gaolers rotated well and drove hard for the ball. Best on went to Matilda Jacobs, who brought strength, drive and positivity to the court, and work tirelessly in goals. Second award went to Kaly Smith, who played an outstanding game in defence third award went to Kristal Slade, who moved well and really applied the pressure to the opposition shooters. Well done ladies.
What a game.. The girls went into game and started off well. There were moments of brilliance and then moments of sloppy play. The wet weather and then glimpses of sunshine were not our friends at the end of the day. Our defensive was amazing all down the court and I can honestly say the girls are hitting results time and time again and I’m super proud of all of them. We had more movement through the goal end this week and new player taking the court who stepped in nicely. Receiving nearly ever centre pass with two players and was able to get the ball into our goalers. A few changes made through the game with no impact made it easy to make changes. Best on court went to Robyn who stepped up this week with intercepts and touches all through the court. Second went to Keely who played her butt off through the defence end and then bringing it down the court to our goal end and always being an option on the line simple meant less forced errors into the circle. Well done to Tallangatta can honestly say it was a really nice game to play.
