Round 4 Match Reports
Updated: May 3
Seniors Vs Mitta
Unfortunately, due to the unfortunate incident with Eli the game was a little delayed and threw our preparation out.
We started off a little slow in the first quarter and couldn’t hold our tackles. We didn’t make the most of the wind but thanks to well-oiled backline lead by captain courageous himself Gilly we repelled a majority of their attacks.
Second quarter was similar to the first but as we started to make our tackles stick and the bull Leigh Marshall started to take control.
The third quarter was our quarter, our effort and ferocious attack and the footy was unmatched by Mitta. This quarter put an exclamation mark on young Bailey St John’s outstanding game and boy is it going to be exciting watching him develop.
The fourth quarter was an even contest, and we had our chances. All in all, our effort was amazing and was great to see young PJ and Ando play out of their skins in unfamiliar positions.
Left wondering what might of been if the quarters weren’t shortened as we seem to finish off the quarters a lot stronger then Mitta. Was a great effort and a wonderful response to last week and that first win isn’t far off.

Reserves vs Mitta
Well, this week had us travel to Eskdale with a major lack of numbers due to a combination of injury and work commitments.
It allowed a lot of guys the opportunity to stand up and show what they could do.
We welcomed in Jibba and Jack who both showed they would be important inclusions in our side for the year with both giving their all for 4 quarters.
Eli was another inclusion and dominated in his role against a very quick and talented opposition shutting down one of their best.
Unfortunately for Eli a collision with another player had him out for the count. Play was stopped and soon called off whist we waited for an ambulance as the realisation of the severity of the incident became our worst nightmare. Eli has since returned home and has severe bruising with no major injuries thank goodness.
Other inclusions had Dan and Frenchy put on the Guernsey (this time Dan was on our side) as well as the 47yr old coach himself, who battled hard showing he was willing to put into practice everything he asks the players to do.
Overall, we could not run with the fitter younger Mitta team but we never dropped our heads and we never stopped battling.
A day to be proud of our willingness to never give up no matter what is thrown at us.
Goals: J. Broadley, G. Cadman
Best: J. Ryan, B. Easton, Z. Mc Donald, C. Cooper, L. Kelly, E. Salthouse
The midgets braved their first cold morning to have a fantastic game. Their goal was to work on their defence and ensuring they were three feet each time and they did a great job. Awards: Ivy for a consistent game in Center and Kaitlyn for listening to the coaches direction and being a team player.
Yet another strong win for the U13 girls against Mitta. Using height to their advantage up in the defensive end, Charlee, Molly & Lily kept the opposition shut down. In the mid-court Sophia, Millie, Dakota and Emily moved through the court well, with accurate shooting by Tahnee, Zoe and Piper. With a final impressive win of 39:5,
Best on Court went to Sophia Kotzur, and a special mention to Molly Gilmore in GK.
15’s & Under
So the girls had their first loss for the season this week going down by 16 to a very good Mitta side. We knew they were going to be tough and they flew out from the starting whistle and never looked back. The girls were able to slowly claw their way back into the game but I think our choice of passes and playing behind really was detrimental to us. Again it was really hard to pick awards as we had some great shooting and the defensive end was solid as always. BOC went to Lily Barry. Plenty of rebounds, stayed on her toes and on the body like I asked and got a lot of tips. Holly was again outstanding in GA also defensively seeing her walk away with an award and lastly, Savannah Scholes. Her shooting and rebounding were on point. Well done girls. Let’s train hard this week and get back in the winners circle.
18’s & Under
We came into our Mitta game knowing their stats and knew this would be a hard one to get across the line. The first qtr was tough and very much goal for goal. Second qtr we made a tactical change by throwing Our tall mid court player Steph into defence just to change the dynamic and smashed our second qtr 2 goals to 18 goals. This then pushed the team through to take out a very strong win. A strong game by all and what a team we have. Stella shooting once again by our shooting trio. Defence work improves week in week out. Our mid court who just keep nailing the drives and passing all down court. A great bunch of girls who support each other on and off the court. Well done girls!! Best on: Ebony Vardy and Stephanie Lassey.
C grade had our 3rd win on Saturday against a tough opponent in Mitta. Our defenders were on fire! They created so much pressure down that end and created many turnovers which we were able to capitalise on and get a good lead. Our attacking end struggled more than usual but still kept their heads up and worked hard at getting that ball down and gaining back any lost possession. We unfortunately had an injury in our mid court and we hope to have E back soon. The whole team should be proud of their win. Both awards went to our amazing defenders.
Best: Alex and the second award to Sarah.
Unfortunately not our best game, Mitta came out strong and despite our best efforts we were unable to close the gap. Our defensive end worked tirelessly all game, with stellar performances from the girls. Best on went to Jackie, who was simply outstanding, she worked so hard causing turnovers, getting numerous intercepts and strong drives in bring the ball down to our attackers. Second award went to Kaly, who again had a strong game, and her positive talk was amazing. No matter which position she plays she always gives 150%. Well done ladies.
Well unfortunately we didn’t come away with a win today. Our defence end did a fantastic job with intercepts and causing turn overs with the pressure on every pass. We simply couldn’t get the ball into the circle. Mitta's defence was simply stoppable. Back to work at training with our mid court next to be targeted. Best on court went to Allison Ross who never stopped in C and stuck to her player like glue all game and Second went to New Comer Meg Vardy – simple beautiful to watch, her player will know they played netball today as she was tight on her player and at times took intercepts that the team simply couldn’t believe and weren’t ready to play on.
